Privacy policy
This policy explains how [[DEVELOPER_NAME]] ("we", "us") handles personal data in the GovtNaukri Android app and its backend services. GovtNaukri runs on a server we operate; the app sends your data to that server over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection so it can check your eligibility for job openings.
Data we collect
| Data | Why we need it |
|---|---|
| Email address, password (stored only as a secure hash), or your Google account ID and email if you use Google Sign-In | Create and secure your account, sign you in, send password reset emails |
| Eligibility profile: date of birth, highest qualification and stream, category (UR/EWS/OBC/SC/ST), gender (optional), state of domicile, preferred states, nationality, years of experience, job interests | Check which job posts you are eligible for |
| Special status answers: person with benchmark disability, ex-serviceman and years of service, serving or retired government employee | Apply age relaxations and reserved-post rules. This is sensitive data; we use it only for eligibility checks |
| Saved jobs, notification preferences, app language | Provide the features you choose |
| Device push token (Firebase Cloud Messaging) | Send job alerts and closing-date reminders you turn on |
| Subscription status and Google Play purchase token | Verify and manage your subscription. We never receive your card, UPI or bank details; Google Play handles payment |
| App usage events and crash reports (Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics), linked to a pseudonymous ID | Fix crashes and improve the app. We do not send your name, email or profile answers to analytics |
| Problem reports you send about a job notice | Correct errors in job details |
| Consent records (which policy version you accepted, and when) | Show that we have your permission |
Before you create an account, the app can show a preview of your matches. For that preview, your profile answers are sent to our server, used to calculate the result, and not stored against any identity.
How we use your data
We use your data only to run GovtNaukri: matching you with job posts, showing why you are or are not eligible, sending alerts you enable, managing your subscription, keeping your account secure, and fixing problems. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use your eligibility profile for advertising.
Legal basis and consent
We process your personal data with your consent, given when you sign up, in line with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000 and its rules. You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account or deleting specific data. Some features will not work without the related data.
Who we share data with
We share data only with service providers who process it on our behalf and under contract:
- Cloud hosting provider for our servers and database ([[HOSTING_PROVIDER]])
- Google Firebase, for push notifications, analytics and crash reporting
- Google Play, for subscription billing
- An email delivery provider, for account and password emails
We may disclose data if required by law or a valid order from a government authority. We do not share your data with recruiting bodies; when you tap "Apply", you go to the official website and share data with them directly.
How long we keep data
- Account and profile data: for as long as your account exists. Deleted within 30 days of an account deletion request.
- Inactive accounts: deleted after 3 years with no sign-in, after an email warning.
- Purchase and subscription records: up to 8 years, as required for tax and accounting law.
- Server security logs: up to 90 days.
- Backups: overwritten within 90 days, so deleted data disappears from backups within that time.
- Analytics and crash data: up to 14 months in Firebase.
Security
All traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted with HTTPS. Passwords are hashed and never stored in readable form. Sign-in tokens on your phone are kept in Android's encrypted storage. Access to production data is limited to staff who need it.
Your rights
You can:
- See and correct your profile at any time in the app (Profile tab)
- Ask for a summary of the personal data we hold about you
- Delete your account and all associated data
- Delete specific data while keeping your account
- Withdraw consent, or nominate another person to exercise these rights in case of death or incapacity
- Raise a complaint with our Grievance Officer, and then with the Data Protection Board of India
Children
GovtNaukri is meant for job seekers aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we make important changes, we will tell you in the app before they take effect and ask for your consent again where the law requires it.
